Technology helps Myrtle Beach fire crews reduce response times

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Myrtle Beach Fire Department is finishing up a multi-phase program involving Opticom Technology to help reduce emergency response times.

Capt. Jonathan Evans says the technology uses antennas and modems on department vehicles to connect to intersection lights. He said the technology changes the lights in their path to green while crews make their way to an emergency.
