Heat advisory issued for Vero Beach; humid temps will continue into next week

VERO BEACH — Residents are feeling the summer scorch, with heat index values – or ‘feels-like’ temperatures – expected to soar to 102 degrees on Friday, according to weather experts. Weather officials issued a heat advisory that will last until 6 p.m.

The hot and humid weather will continue into next week, said Robert Haley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

“For the next several days, limit time outdoors especially during the hottest part of the day,” Haley said. “Drink plenty of water, stay in the air conditioning, never leave pets or children in a vehicle unattended for an extended period of time.”…
