Police warn drivers, visitors to Syracuse Nationals not to race, do burnouts or drive drunk

Syracuse, N.Y. — When tens of thousands of people come to see more than 8,000 vintage and classic cars this weekend, three local police agencies will be ready for them with extra patrols.

The Syracuse Nationals, the largest car show in the Northeast, will be holding its 25th anniversary show at the New York State Fairgrounds. The three-day show starts on Friday and ends Sunday.

A common problem on Syracuse Nationals weekend can be drivers doing burnouts, driving recklessly or racing other drivers. In past years, hundreds of spectators have gathered along Erie Boulevard East to watch the parade of cars go by…
