Delaware State Police have apprehended a man in connection with an armed robbery that occurred just outside a Dunkin’ on Geoffrey Drive in Newark. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cortez Crawford from Wilmington, was taken into custody regarding the incident that took place on the evening of July 5.
According to the Delaware State Police report, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a 32-year-old woman, while standing on the sidewalk, was threatened with a knife by an unknown assailant who demanded her possessions. The suspect fled on foot after the victim complied and handed over her purse. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any physical injuries from the ordeal.
Detectives, using investigative methods, identified Crawford as the suspect. Subsequently, a warrant for his arrest was issued. On July 15, in a situation already in custody at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, Crawford was formally charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, both of which are classed as felonies…
