WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A sizzling hot high pressure ridge will bring high temperatures in the middle and upper 90s and heat index values even higher than that. The National Weather Service may elect to issue Heat Advisories or Extreme Heat bulletins through the weekend, as many of those heat index values will climb to 105 or possibly 110 for at least a couple of hours. Stay rested, hydrated, and neighborly!
Respect any storms that manage to bust through the heat ridge, as they tend to be heavy and / or electric! Chances for such storms include 20% Friday, 20% Saturday, 20% Sunday, and 50% early next week.
An area of low pressure will continue to drench portions of the northern Gulf Coast through week’s end, but the odds of becoming a tropical storm have tanked. This feature is unlikely to impact the Carolinas…
