CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Visitors to Cole Park may have noticed part of the plaza area still blocked off, and city officials say it’s for good reason.
A $900,000 construction project is underway to install new shade structures at the park. The upgrades include 12 concrete columns, overhead panels, lighting and electrical outlets — all designed to make the area more functional and enjoyable for both residents and tourists.
“The visitors that we get down there on an annual basis reach into the hundreds of thousands,” said Robert Dodd, Corpus Christi’s parks and recreation director. “They’re visitors from other cities, and they’re also our own. It’s a great park — and you can’t beat that view of the bay.”…
