THURSDAY:
Temperatures on our Thursday will be quite similar to what we saw around the region on our Wednesday! Highs will range through the 90s across eastern New Mexico and western Texas. A cold front will likely stall in the Texas Panhandle. Depending on where it stalls will determine how much coverage we see with shower and thunderstorm activity during the afternoon and evening hours, and could determine just how warm we get. Isolated thunderstorms appear most likely along the Texas-New Mexico state line, and also along and north of Highway 70. No widespread severe weather is expected, but some localized strong wind gusts or large hail stones will be possible with the strongest storms that pop up. Winds will be sustained out of the south-southeast around 12-18 MPH across the region. An isolated shower or storm will linger overnight, with lows bottoming out in the 60s and 70s.

SHORT TERM FORECAST:
Rain chances fade as the temperatures rise through our short term forecast period! Highs will peak in the mid 90s to low 100s on Friday and Saturday. Morning lows will remain in the 60s and 70s each day. We will see a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky around the region, with winds out of the south-southwest around 10-20 MPH. Rain chances will remain below 10% both days. However, given how much moisture we have at the surface level around the region, combined with sufficient surface heating, don’t be surprised to see an isolated storm or two bubble up during the afternoon and evening hours each day!

EXTENDED FORECAST:
Isolated showers and storms will remain possible each day during our extended forecast period. High temperatures will remain right around the century mark for most each day. Hottest temperatures will occur off the Caprock and across the Rolling Plains, with the coolest temperatures remaining in eastern New Mexico. Morning lows will be anywhere from the upper 60s to low 80s each morning. A mix of mostly clear to partly cloudy sky conditions can be expected each day, as winds remain sustained around 10-20 MPH, mainly out of the south.
