Teen arrested driving stolen car near COS Airport

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said on Tuesday, July 15, two people were arrested after police stopped a stolen car near the Colorado Springs Airport.

According to CSPD, on Tuesday at around 7:45 p.m., officers with the Motor Vehicle Theft Unit found a stolen Honda Civic near Airport Road and South Academy Boulevard. Detectives started to surveil the alleged stolen car and identified a teen boy and an adult, identified as 18-year-old Joseph Martinez.

Detectives attempted a traffic stop; however, the driver eluded detectives, and law enforcement decided not to chase the car. A short time later that evening, detectives used a grapple device near the intersection of South Murray and East Fountain Boulevards and successfully stopped the car…
