LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Surrounded by her elementary students, Shambrion Treadwell cut the red ribbon in front of Las Vegas’ newest charter school, a program that’s in a class of its own.
Do and Be Arts Academy of Excellence, located inside the Aguilas Christian Family Center, held the grand opening for their 225 students and their parents on Thursday. The K-8 program initially started as an after-school business, according to Treadwell, its founder.
“I know that it’s only step one, and there’s so much more work to be done as far as fundraising and to get that four- and five-star rating,” she said. “But it’s a beautiful moment to celebrate where we’ve come so far.”
