South Carolina beekeepers share how you can help save the bees

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Beekeepers from across South Carolina gathered in Columbia Friday to mark 50 years of their statewide association while also confronting growing threats to the state’s vital pollinators.

Hundreds of beekeepers came to the South Carolina Beekeepers Association semiannual conference to learn, chat, and buy all things bees. Bees help pollinate some of South Carolina’s major crops, like peaches and collard greens. Without them, farmers would have to find other ways to pollinate their crops.

As a large agricultural state, protecting these insects is very important to South Carolina farmers. So, Beekeepers Association President Jim Strohm offered some simple advice for people who want to support these winged helpers…
