Outrage grows over soaring ticket prices in Tennessee, lawmaker calls for action

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Outrage is building across Tennessee as fans of live music find themselves priced out of concerts, with some tickets for Paul McCartney’s upcoming Nashville performance reaching nearly $5,000 for a single seat.

“It’s ridiculous,” said Roy Yekel, a music fan in downtown Nashville. “The people actually listening to the music — they can’t afford those prices.”

Fans say pre-sale tickets for McCartney’s November show at the new Pinnacle arena were scooped up within minutes, only to reappear on third-party resale sites at extreme markups.

State Representative Caleb Hemmer, a Democrat representing District 59, says his phone hasn’t stopped ringing since the ticket release. He’s calling it what it is: predatory scalping — and he’s urging Tennesseans to take action…
