Walmart shoplifting suspect tracked down by police after Fourth of July theft

A Leesburg woman was arrested for theft this week after stealing a speaker from Walmart on the Fourth of July.

Officers responded to a theft at Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., around 5:40 p.m. Friday, July 4, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. An asset protection associate gave a description of 28-year-old Wendy Berenice Villasenor Perez on a bicycle. One of the officers had seen her coming onto the property with the bicycle earlier that day.

Upon arrival, he met with the associate who advised that he saw Villasenor Perez in the electronic department looking around at items with a backpack on. She went back and forth between the aisles before stopping and picking up a speaker worth $14.88. She then walked into the clothing department and put the speaker in her backpack, the report said.

Villasenor Perez proceeded to the grocery exit doors, passing all points of sale. Asset protection caught up to her, but she refused to stop and left the property on the bicycle.
