Swimming not advised at Lake Red Rock beaches, several other Iowa beaches

IOWA — On Friday, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said that swimming is not advised at 12 state beaches this week.

When strong storms will move into central Iowa this weekend

According to the DNR’s website, all 12 of the beaches were found to have E. coli levels higher than the state’s standard, with one beach, Lake Darling Beach, also exceeding the standard for Algal toxin. The affected beaches are listed below:

  • Backbone Beach in Delaware County
  • Beeds Lake Beach in Franklin County
  • Black Hawk Beach in Sac County
  • Blue Lake Beach in Monona County
  • Lake Ahquabi Beach in Warren County
  • Lake Darling Beach in Washington County
  • Lake Manawa Beach in Pottawattamie County
  • Lake of Three Fires Beach in Taylor County
  • Nine Eagles Beach in Decatur County
  • Pine Lake South Beach in Hardin County
