Friday’s Five Facts

[1] Ruidoso flash floods lead to several swift water rescue operations – Two people were rescued from the Cherokee Mobile Home Park, as well as several people from the Friedenbloom Trailer Park, including children. The mayor of Ruidoso says these rescues could have been avoided, pleading with the public to listen to evacuation orders. Ruidoso officials are asking residents to register online for “Call Me Ruidoso” a website which sends emergency push alerts directly to cell phones.

[2] Albuquerque police see decrease in juvenile crime downtown –  Albuquerque police have reported a decrease in juvenile crime downtown. APD says it’s closely monitoring the area with cameras installed throughout. There are 122 cameras linked to the Real-Time Crime Center. Since the beginning of the year, the APD has arrested 26 juveniles in the downtown area and recovered 10 firearms. APD reported a 20% decrease in shootings downtown.

[3] More storms form with muggy and breezy weather – Heavy rainfall will continue through the end of the week and into the weekend with a heightened threat for flash flooding. Temperatures will be near average for most of New Mexico through the weekend. Heading into next week, temperatures will heat up once again. We will also see some slightly drier conditions across the state…
