Hawaii’s Jason Momoa comes home for ‘Chief of War’ premiere

HONOLULU (KHON2) — It’s a big night for Hawaiian culture and the state’s film industry.

Big changes could be coming for Hawaii’s film industry — and they aren’t good

The red carpet premiere took place today of the new Apple TV+ series “Chief of War,” starring Hawaiʻi’s Jason Momoa, who also wrote and executive produced the drama.

Momoa plays a warrior named Kaʻiana as he tries to unify the islands before Western colonization.

“I’m playing fictitious characters. I, you know, I’m playing fantasy worlds. This is playing my ancestors. This is, if I fail, I’m not coming home,” Said Momoa. “Home. You know, I can’t come home. We could be embarrassed. And I mean, it’s everything, it’s my soul, it’s my it’s my DNA. I think today is going to be probably the most impactful and important moment in my life.”…
