MEMPHIS, Tennessee — The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office officially launched a forensic audit of Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) Thursday, July 17, kicking off a sweeping investigation into allegations of misused public funds, deleted documents and mismanagement of school facilities.
The $6 million audit, funded by taxpayers, is expected to take nine to 14 months. The audit is being conducted by CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, a Nashville-based accounting firm.
