Another family in Oakland is desperately seeking answers from authorities after a heartbreaking fatal collision.
Last night, family and friends of Rose Banks, a 59-year-old nursing assistant and caretaker, gathered at the corner of 82nd and Bancroft avenues in East Oakland to call for justice — and seek information about the circumstances surrounding her death. Banks was killed in a hit-and-run at that intersection while using a crosswalk late in the evening of July 7.
A handful of people placed flowers at the base of a fence near where Banks lived, on 83rd Avenue and Bancroft, and where she died. Her nieces, Tiffany and Tasha McDonald, spoke to The Oaklandside as her next of kin. They said Banks’ sister was too upset to attend the vigil, and her mother, whom Banks took care of daily, was too frail to participate…
