Rochester woman sentenced for hiding boyfriend’s body to collect social security benefits

Rochester, N.Y. — A woman who pleaded guilty in April to conversion/unlawful conveyance of government money after hiding her boyfriend’s body in the basement of her Bryan Street home was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison, according to prosecutors.

Wendy Stone, now 63, never reported the December 2022 death of her boyfriend, 66-year-old Kenneth Crisman. She instead hid his corpse in a recycling bin and coated it in bleach to conceal the smell and continue collecting his social security benefits until September 2023, prosecutors said.

Stone also reportedly used Crisman’s social security credentials to activate a new debit card and depleted its funds within 10 days, using it at several local businesses…
