EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (WGN) – An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed early Friday morning in East Chicago.
The East Chicago Police Department said just after 12:45 a.m. Friday, officers were patrolling the Sunnyside area of East Chicago when they heard shots fired in the area. Shotspotter immediately alerted the officers to 10 rounds being fired in the area of the 2600 block of East 141st Street.
Officers searched the area and found two vehicles that has been damaged due to the gunfire, along with several shell casings on the ground, according to investigators.

Police said as officers continued to search for a suspect(s), dispatch told them a 27-year-old man who had been shot was dropped off at the St. Catherine Hospital emergency room.
