HOUSTON, Texas (KIAH) — The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued its last update on a tropical disturbance that brought concerns of tropical weather this week.
The NHC now gives the disorganized area of showers and storms a 0% chance that it could develop into a tropical depression. Nevertheless, the disturbance has been straddling the northern Gulf coast the last several days, bringing heavy rain, and is still on track to soak Southeast Texas.
The disturbance prompted flash flood warnings Thursday afternoon, as well as flood watches and warnings in parts of southern Louisiana and Mississippi. More than five inches of rain has fallen on some areas between Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, as the heaviest rain continues moving west through the northern Gulf coastline.
