The city of Plano announced July 18 the hiring of Amanda McNew as director of media relations.
McNew brings nearly a decade of experience in municipal communications and crisis response as media manager and lead public information officer for the Grapevine Police Department. She also worked at WFAA-TV for nine years as a producer.
McNew serves as chair of the North Texas Public Information Officers Group. She is a certified public communicator through Texas Christian University and has completed advanced PIO training through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as well as executive-level media and strategy training through the Center for American and International Law.
