Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, known as the “Sleeping Prince,” has passed away at the age of 36. The prince spent over two decades in a coma following a tragic car accident in London when he was 15 years old.

The accident, which occurred while Prince Al-Waleed was a military cadet, resulted in severe brain trauma and internal bleeding. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, he never regained consciousness. He remained on life support at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh until his passing.

His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, announced his son’s death on social media, expressing his deep sorrow and asking for prayers. Throughout the years, Prince Khaled remained steadfast in his hope for his son’s recovery and refused to discontinue life support. He often visited the hospital with Prince Al-Waleed’s younger brothers, encouraging prayers for his awakening.

While the prince occasionally exhibited minor physical responses that offered glimmers of hope, he remained in critical condition. His hospital room was frequently visited by well-wishers offering prayers and support.

Funeral prayers will be held on Sunday at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh. Following the announcement, condolences poured in from across the nation.
