First Alert Weather: Scattered showers, storms Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Good morning!

The Next 24 Hours: Today is shaping up to be another warm and humid summer day, but it may not be quite as hot as earlier in the week.

Clouds and scattered rain from the remnants of what was once Invest 93L will help keep temperatures in check for some. Highs will likely reach the lower 90s this afternoon, but cloud cover and rain could knock those numbers down a bit in a few spots. We’re not expecting heat index values to climb high enough to require any heat alerts today, as most areas should stay below the 105-degree mark.

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will likely develop this afternoon, moving northward across the area. Most of this is still tied to that lingering tropical moisture. The good news is that storms should remain on the weaker side, with no widespread severe weather expected…
