As a sports fan who grew up in Shaker Heights, I preferred taking rapid transit to and from games at old Municipal Stadium than driving downtown and parking. I’d walk the four blocks from Terminal Tower to the stadium, often braving winter winds.
I moved to St. Louis 50 years ago to attend college, so I missed out on the rapid transit extension to the new stadium for football and the indoor walkway to Gateway for baseball and indoor winter sports.
In St. Louis, I can take light rail to stations across the street from Busch Stadium, Enterprise Center, and the America’s Center Dome. My son, a reporter, lives close to light rail, saving time and money while not contributing to vehicular traffic to access sports venues…
