The United Way of Erie County is set to receive a major statewide recognition for its work in education. On July 23, 2025, Governor Josh Shapiro will officially proclaim the day as “United Way Community School Day” across Pennsylvania.
The announcement will be made by Michael Ferritto, the governor’s Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Director, during a noon ceremony at Gannon University’s Yehl Ballroom. The event is part of the inaugural Community Schools Conference, hosted by United Way of Erie County, running July 23–24.
The proclamation celebrates the success of the Community Schools Model, a nationally recognized strategy that United Way has implemented in collaboration with public school districts.
