Man charged with hitting and threatening police officers after being arrested downtown for disorderly intoxication

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Robert Wayne Masey, 37, was arrested early this morning for disorderly intoxication and an open container violation, and more charges were added after he allegedly hit and threatened police officers at a local hospital and at the jail.

At about 1:45 a.m. on July 19, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a call from the Arcade Bar (15 N. Main Street), where Masey was allegedly standing in front of the business, yelling and using profane language. The officer reported that Masey was holding an open can of Four Loko Gold, a violation of the City’s open container ordinance, and was visibly intoxicated; the officer also reported that Masey was not wearing shoes, could barely stand, and was swaying…
