GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – This week, we’re taking a trip down to Laurens County, where the name “Jonathan Downs” is widely known.
He was a member of the 1st and 2nd Provincial Congress and served in the South Carolina General Assembly. Downs is best known for helping give Laurens County its name and his Revolutionary War service as a commander in the “Battle of Lindley’s Fort….Which took place this week in 1776.
