CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A man is dead after a boating incident on Norris Lake near Springs Dock on Saturday, July 19.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency shared that a person called 911 shortly before 4 p.m. to report that a man had fallen into the water, was hit by a boat and had not resurfaced. TWRA wildlife officers responded and found the vessel involved.

According to the agency, the preliminary investigation found that a 58-year-old man, who was not wearing a life jacket, fell from the back of a wakeboard boat and was struck by the vessel.
The victim’s body was located by a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) following an extensive search. Around 8 p.m., divers with the Knox County Rescue Squad recovered the body.

The incident is still under investigation. TWRA added that no additional details would be released until notification of the next of kin. This was the 14th fatal boating incident in Tennessee in 2025. TWRA also reminded boaters to wear a life jacket and use caution while on the water…
