UK amends web policies, seeks legal counsel in response to ‘repugnant’ petition by professor

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Leaders at the University of Kentucky have rapidly implemented web policy changes and are working with independent legal counsel in response to allegations concerning an anti-Semitic petition that was allegedly written by a law professor.

In a notice to the campus community on Friday, July 18, President Eli Capilouto said “allegations of disturbing conduct,” particularly a petition authored by Professor Ramsi Woodcock and shared online, could be interpreted as antisemitic.

“Let me be clear: the views expressed by this employee, if accurately attributed, are repugnant,” Capilouto wrote.

In the “Petition for Military Action Against Israel,” Professor Woodcock demanded “that every country in the world make war on Israel immediately” and wrote that “we believe that the duty of states to liberate Palestine by force of arms is moral and would be compelling even if no international legal ground were to exist for doing so.”…
