First Alert Weather: Scattered storms this weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – It’s been a cloudy start to the day with spotty showers and a few thunderstorms north of Interstate-20/59.

Cloud cover is preventing our temperatures from rapidly heating up. Temperatures have warmed into the mid 80s with slightly cooler temperatures in north Alabama. We will likely remain partly to mostly cloudy this afternoon with high temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s. When you factor in the muggy conditions, it could feel like it is in the mid to upper 90s.

We are holding on to a 40% chance for widely scattered showers and storms today. The greatest coverage for rain this afternoon will likely remain along and north of I-20/59. Isolated showers can’t be ruled out farther south. The main threat this afternoon will be pockets of heavy rainfall, lightning and an isolated flood threat mainly for north-northwest Alabama. Remember that if thunder roars, go indoors!…
