A Belle Chasse man is accused of running over an New Orleans Police Department officer and an Orleans Parish sheriff’s deputy who tried to pull him over while he was doing doughnuts in the French Quarter.
The incident happened just before midnight Friday night at the corner of Conti and Bourbon Streets.
According to an NOPD spokesperson, Mark Hunter, Jr., was doing doughnuts in his Chevy Camaro when the officer and the deputy tried to conduct the traffic stop. Investigators say that’s when Hunter accelerated, striking both law enforcement officers intentionally. Hunter allegedly sped away, leading police on a chase into a Canal Street parking garage.
