Elk River man arrested after shooting at Sherburne Government Center

ELK RIVER — A 51-year-old Elk River man was arrested this morning after allegedly firing several shots into the windows of the Sherburne County Government Center and then entering the building with a long gun, authorities said.

Sherburne County Sheriff’s officials identified the suspect as Zha Vang, who was taken into custody outside the building while walking away armed, according to SCSO Commander Ben Zawacki.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 a.m. July 19, with gunfire hitting the windows between the front doors of the Government Center at 13880 Business Center Drive NW, prompting law enforcement from multiple agencies to respond…
