Mount Pleasant’s Sweetgrass Festival returns to celebrate Gullah Geechee heritage in 2025

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — Residents and visitors from across the Lowcountry have been invited to celebrate Gullah Geechee heritage and the art of basket making at the 2025 Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 26, one of the most treasured cultural traditions of the Lowcountry will be celebrated at Memorial Waterfront Park. The festival will feature live performances, basket weaving demonstrations, craft vendors, children’s activities, and plenty of local food, as well as the opportunity to buy sweetgrass baskets directly from local artisans.
