Heat advisories still in effect, but a cool down is near

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good Sunday morning! We have another hot and steamy day for you to close out the weekend. High temperatures will surge quickly from the 70s to the mid-to-upper 90s this afternoon, with feels-like temperatures once again in the triple digits.

Heat advisories are in effect for Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, Anson, Stanly, and Richmond counties until 8 p.m. These counties could experience feel-like temperatures between 105-109 degrees this afternoon. Even if you are not under the heat advisory, the heat later today can be dangerous for anyone who is not taking proper precautions. Stay hydrated, take breaks, and find shade or air conditioning when possible.

While there will be a few pop-up storms this afternoon and evening, the better chance for storms will be across the high country. The mountains could see locally gusty winds and possibly isolated instances of high water in poor drainage spots with any storms that develop.

The hot and steamy conditions will continue into Monday, with high temperatures rising into the low to mid-90s. Feels-like temperatures could once again rise into the triple-digits. There will be a few more storms on Monday, as a cold front approaches the Carolinas. Locally gusty winds and localized flash flooding will be the main threats with storms on Monday…
