Villagers upset that site of fatal fire attracting rats and buzzards

Villagers are upset that a home ravaged by a fire that claimed a woman’s life is attracting rats and buzzards to their neighborhood.

They showed up Friday morning to share their concerns with the Community Development District 5 Board of Supervisors in a meeting at SeaBreeze Recreation Center.

Brigette Brown Fleetwood died as a result of the house fire which broke out Dec. 23 at 2328 Due West Drive in the Village of Lynnhaven. The Villages Public Safety Department quickly rescued Fleetwood from the burning home, but she had been critically injured and was transported to a local hospital where she died.

Fleetwood had been the romantic partner of Lloyd Rohlig, who lived in the home with her. His sister Robin Schang, is co-owner of the home with another woman. The sister lives in Michigan and Rohlig has obtained her power of attorney with regard to the home in The Villages…
