A passenger in a car whose driver was suspected of being under the influence died Saturday after a police chase in Petaluma, the police department said.
Officers responded to a report of a possible DUI on Lakeville Highway around 10 p.m. and tried to stop the car after “observing it swerving into oncoming traffic,” the Petaluma Police Department said. The driver did not stop, police said, so officers pursued the car. The car crashed “at a high rate of speed” and rolled over.
Four people were in the car, including one passenger who died at the scene. The driver and other two passengers had significant injuries and were taken to local trauma centers, police said. They have not been identified yet, pending notification of their families…
