On Saturday, July 19, Alabama Shakes made their triumphant return to the Omaha metro area, their first in ten years. They played a rip-roaring set at the Astro Amphitheater in La Vista, Nebraska. There was a little overcast, but the show went off without a hitch, with the audience loving every minute of it.
Lee Fields was the sole opener for the concert. This 75-year-old man had more energy on stage than many young adults do right now. I was impressed with his swagger and attitude. At one point, he was chatting with the gentlemen in the crowd, asking if that was their lady sitting next to him and giving them their respect. The man was born to entertain the masses. I went in knowing he had a James Brown vibe to him, and I get it. His backing band, the Expressions, was musically talented, including a great two-piece horn section.
