We were able to get in on a two-day fall preview in the middle of July, but such glimpses into the future are fleeting in nature. We’re going back to the dog days of summer as we head into the weekend and beyond. Before we do, let’s see just how cool it was.
For Sioux Falls, Wednesday and Thursday had high temperatures of 68 and 72 degrees, respectively. The former is our average high on October 3rd, while the latter is typically seen around September 25th. Aberdeen’s two-day stretch featured highs of 65 and 72. Just like Sioux Falls, those highs are usually seen in early October and late September…almost down to the same day.
Pierre got in on a milder Thursday, but Wednesday was still on the cooler side. With a two-day run of 68 and 81 degrees, that’s still more typical for early October and early September. Rapid City, however, had the coolest of our readings on Wednesday at just 56 degrees. That’s something we typically don’t see until we’re approaching Halloween. Their 73-degree Thursday is more akin to the start of fall.
80s and 90s are on the way back as we head into next week, and those midsummer muggies will be coming along for the ride as dew points creep back into the 60s and 70s at times. Fall fans, don’t worry…you’ll get your time in the sun soon enough…
