Concertgoers at Coldplay’s Saturday night show at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin got a friendly heads-up from frontman Chris Martin: “If you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.” Martin’s lighthearted warning, captured in fan videos, referred to the band’s “Jumbotron Song,” which features live shots of the audience on the big screen.
This playful caution comes on the heels of an incident at a previous Coldplay concert. During the same song, the camera landed on a cuddling couple who were visibly startled when they realized they were being broadcast to the entire venue.
Martin jokingly commented on the situation, wondering if they were “having an affair or just very shy.” Internet sleuths later identified the pair as Andy Byron, CEO of tech company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s chief people officer.
The fallout was swift. Byron resigned on Saturday, and Astronomer co-founder Pete DeJoy stepped in as interim CEO.
The company released a statement emphasizing the importance of leadership accountability and announced a formal investigation. While Coldplay hasn’t directly addressed the incident, the awkward moment has become fodder for memes and comedic videos online.
