Charleston, SC – Extreme heat will grip South Carolina’s coastal counties through 8 p.m. Saturday, with heat index values reaching up to 113 degrees in some areas east of I-95.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, a Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, as high temperatures in the upper 90s and oppressive humidity push “feels-like” temps into the danger zone. Heat index values are expected to range from 108 to 110 degrees, with localized spikes in areas like Charleston, Beaufort, and Hinesville.
Counties along and east of I-95, including Jasper, Colleton, and Chatham, are under the advisory. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and seek air conditioning.
