An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect today for portions of Southern Indiana, with heat indices reaching up to 105 degrees for the fourth consecutive day. While a heat advisory covers much of the region, we will be monitoring for a potential expansion of the extreme heat warning further east later today. Thunderstorms are also possible, mainly in the heat of the day. These storms could produce torrential rainfall, leading to localized flooding, especially in areas that experienced heavy rain yesterday. Damaging winds and possibly hail are also threats with today’s storms. We will be closely monitoring the timing and intensity of these storms as they develop. As we head into the weekend, the heat and humidity will persist, with high temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s. Storm chances will continue through Monday, with a similar threat of heavy rain and gusty winds. By Tuesday, drier conditions will prevail, but the heat will intensify across the entire region.
