Have you noticed an increase in police presence in Alabama this past week?? There’s a great reason for this.
According to a Facebook post from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Operation Southern Slow Down is underway. They stated, “this week, Alabama is joining forces with five other states in a high-visibility enforcement effort to put the brakes on dangerous driving, especially speeding.”
Speeding plays a major role in danger on the road in Alabama. In 2023 speeding factored into one-third of all fatal traffic crashes in the state, according to southernmedlaw. 1,604 people died in related crashes, a 13% increase from 2019. Operation Southern Slow Down cracks down in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, & Tennessee.
