ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Showers and a few storms will be possible through this evening into tonight, mainly along and west of the Blue Ridge with a few showers over eastern zones. Otherwise, it will remain muggy overnight with lows in the 60s to lower 70s along with the chance for areas of fog in the mountains.
Monday will again be warm and humid with afternoon temperatures in the 80s. Heat index values will also be a few degrees hotter as well. Skies will be mostly cloudy to partly sunny for the day.
A cold front will be passing over the region which will help spark scattered showers and storms for the day. A few showers may be possible in the morning before rain and storms are more likely during the afternoon to evening hours. A few showers may even linger into the night as well. The best coverage for rain will most likely be around US-460 and south.
A few storms may be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. Any heavy rain on saturated grounds may bring a localized flood threat to watch out for as well.
Drier air begins to move into the region Tuesday as high pressure situates itself to our northeast. This will bring any rain chances for the day to be spotty at best over the mountains.
We’ll also have a break from the high humidity over mid-week with mostly dry conditions as temperatures fall below average for highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s.
Humidity, moisture, and temperatures will begin to increase over the back half of the week. High temperatures will climb into the lower 90s with the return of rain and storm chances beginning Friday into next weekend…
