CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – A Cuyahoga County grand jury declined to issue criminal charges against three Cleveland Heights police officers involved in the shooting death of 18-year-old Christian Tyson Thomas last August.
The City of Cleveland Heights held a press conference Monday morning at City Hall to address Friday’s grand jury decision and discuss the next steps. Mayor Kahlil Seren spoke emotionally, offering condolences to the family and acknowledging their pain.

“It is a positive thing that the grand jury did not find that Cleveland Heights officers engaged in criminal conduct,” Seren said. “I do not believe those officers arrived with intent to do anyone harm. But that night still ended with irreparable loss.”
