Alternate route now open for homes cut off by Fray Road closing

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Residents of about 30 homes lost access, in and out, of their neighborhood Saturday when high water caused a 40-50 foot section of Fray Road to collapse, but police and fire rescue crews were able to open an alternate route by Sunday evening, the county said.

At about 6 p.m., Albemarle County Fire Rescue and the Albemarle County Police Department were dispatched to Fray Road, near the Greene County line, for reports of the flooded and imperiled roadway, according to ACPD spokesperson Logan Bogert.
