Last day of extreme heat

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Multiple cities are starting in the 80s this morning! It’s very muggy and uncomfortable once again, and extreme heat continues to top headlines for the afternoon.

There is, thankfully, only one more “hot” day in which a heat advisory is in effect. Today, the heat index is expected to exceed 110 degrees. Please make sure to take it easy and take the heat seriously. There is some relief on the way. A backdoor cold front currently to our north will march southward throughout the day.

This front, along with the sea breeze in the afternoon, will provide some lift, allowing for a few thunderstorms later today. Temperatures will return to normal in the upper 80s at the beach tomorrow with the heat index in the upper 90s, and the Pee Dee will be in the low and mid-90s with no heat alerts tomorrow. It should feel “cooler” tomorrow, but we are still talking 80s and 90s…
