Myrtle Beach intersection closes for Highway 501 realignment project

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – An intersection in Myrtle Beach is closed for a couple of weeks.

The closure of 7th Avenue North and Chester Street intersection began on Monday, and the intersection is expected to reopen in mid-August.

This is so crews can make infrastructure improvements, upgrade waterlines, install sidewalks and work on electrical, communication and telephone systems as part of the Highway 501 realignment project.

The realignment project is a RIDE III project that aims to straighten Highway 501 at the Broadway Street intersection and align it with 7th Avenue North instead of Main Street…
