10-year-old killed in Napa DUI crash

(KRON) — A 10-year-old passenger was killed in a head-on DUI crash in Napa on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol. At around 4:28 p.m. Friday, Aaron Brian Kennedy Alvarez, 35, from Angwin, was driving his 2010 Toyota Corolla east on Chiles Pope Valley Road with a 10-year-old passenger in the left rear seat.

At the same time, police say that Jose Rosario Madrigal Ceja, 47, of Napa, was headed in the opposite direction on Chiles Pope Valley Road in his 2013 Nissan Sentra. For reasons that are still under investigation, the CHP said Alvarez drove over the solid double yellow line and crashed head-on into Ceja.

Alvarez’s 10-year-old passenger died at the scene. Suffering from major injuries, Alvarez was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital by helicopter. Ceja was transported to Queen of the Valley by ambulance for minor parties.
