Benefit for BRPD officer raises thousands

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Just over a month ago, Baton Rouge Police Sergeant Caleb Eisworth was hit by a car while on his department motorcycle. He has been in serious condition since then. Groups across the community have been pitching in with fundraisers to help. One friend of Sgt. Eisworth, Stormie Hill, is the woman who spearheaded the benefit.

“Everyone here is from everywhere, they’re all over the state, and they all came in for him,” Hill says. “He is a light in this world and definitely one of the good ones; he’s never met a stranger as far as I know, and we’ve been friends almost 15 years.”

Hill put this on to help raise money for the family, after Sgt. Eisworth had to have both legs amputated above the knee. Hill got the locals bar and kitchen on board, with a number of other donations from local restaurants, groups, and individuals. David St. Romain is the Executive Director of a local non-profit called ‘Songs of Survivors’, which mixes veterans and songwriting. He says he felt the urge to help in a bigger way, so he performed…
