“I guess I shot myself:” Paralyzed UNO student reacts to jury verdict after Lake Terrace shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Nearly three years ago, Noah Hansard took a late-night walk on a hot summer night through his Lake Terrace neighborhood. It was a habit, a way to find peace in nature and solitude. But that night would change his life forever.

“I was walking. There was no drug deal, I wasn’t meeting anyone,” Hansard recalled. “That’s why I walked at night, so I didn’t see anyone. I wanted to look at animals and enjoy nature.”

Hansard’s walk was his last. He says two men in ski masks and hoodies jumped him, stole his phone and shot him twice. The bullets left him paralyzed from the waist down…
